The advantage with electronic version is you can have multiple colors too, as well as other tags that will let you organize/arrange your cards any way you want. ndxCards even has a way of quickly getting those cards that you never tagged so that you can go back, review them and tag them.

I know I late getting to this, but one thing I used to do with written index cards that would be cool with the electronic (but probably way hard):

I used different color cards for different things. For example, I may have used different colors for different topics within a research project. Or different colors for different authors.

Then, when I did my first sorting, I could easily sort the colors and then go back through with a better sense of what I had.

Thanks for the comment. I will be talking about filtering in an upcoming blog.

As to the printing issue, write to customer support. They can suggest ideas that will correct the problem. I myself found that I have to adjust for each printer, so I tend to use the card layout feature on the right side of the page setup screen to get the printing the way I want it.

I use ndxcards to track a large number of projects. Easy to use because I can assign multiple keywords and retrieve the information from multiple search criteria. I noted in one of the forums that it would be great to write a NOT operator in the selection criteria and I often have cards that I'm basically finished with but not quite ready to delete. Their continued presence in the notes list junks up the list. If I could put a term such as "Archive" in the keywords or even in the subject, I could write a search that would exclude all such cards or easily find all such cards. What would really be neat is to be able to have a NOT and an AND operator function. I understand that the NOT operator is planned for the next version, and I'd love to test it when it is ready.
One more suggestion: I usually print to plain paper, but someone gave me some Avery 5388 cards. I tried printing to the cards, but I've been unable to set up the print so that information doesn't overlap the next following card. The default Avery settings overlap card 1 onto 2 and card 2 onto 3. Not a big deal, since I usually print to plain paper.
Great product. Keep up the good work.

Good content, fairly regular updating & interacting with your readers. You could take queries on the forum as blog topics, and announce the topic on the forum. Good luck!

Good to see a customer commenting. I would also appreciate any tips you may have for someone just starting a blog.

I much prefer the electronic version to the paper one! I use ndxCards to gather snippets for my blog and information for a book, and I'd much rather search electronically than with my fingers.

We have invited educators to write blogs about the use of ndxCards at their institutions - have not had any takers yet. Guess they have enough to do.

I will be writing about design features in ndxCards to help reduce plagiarism in a future post.

I would like to see a blog from a high school or university 101 teacher in any of the writing intensive subjects suggest how they have gone about using ndxCards in the class room.

Given that cut and paste - plagiarism - is an area of academic concern, it would appear that a more systemic use of ndxCards where an essay or paper is built from notecards used in conjunction with your outlining tool would address some or all of these issues.
